Gotta Have

Gotta Have

I had a lot of fun writing this, especially since the inspiration is one of my favorite songs. This, unfortunately, dates me while simultaneously running the risk of calling my taste in music into question. But I don't care, I think it's a great song. I think it's a pretty good little story, too.

Gotta Have

My head bopped up and down as I listened to the music streaming from my mp3 player. My feet bopped in time with my head as I sat by the fountain. God, I loved this song. And it brought forth such mouth watering images. Sunglasses. Leather jacket. Those tight, tight jeans. I remember how he danced next to the jukebox as he sang. How many times had I wished I was in his arms instead of that guitar?

The best part of the song started, and I sang along under my breath.

A hand on my shoulder startled me into looking up.

Alex grinned, showing off his million dollar smile. His baby blue eyes sparkled like the water in the fountain next to us. "Hey, I'm glad you decided to give me another chance."

The song still played in my ears, and I didn't turn it off as I stood. "Actually, I've changed my mind. We're not getting back together."

His dazzling smile slipped a notch, and he took my hand. "Come on. You know you want me."

"I do, but I think I'm going to wait for something more."

He frowned, and his eyes lost their sparkle. "We're great together. What more do you need to have?"

Slipping my hand from his grip, I set my song on repeat, walked away with a bounce in my step.

"Faith."
